Elizabeth Carney and Loriann Parziale
Liz read Wesley Campbell’s book “Be A HERO – the Battle for Mercy and Social Justice”, and felt compelled to do something for the orphans. Along with her sister, Lori, she donated $10,000.00 US to build a children’s home at Namugongo, Uganda. Here’s what she wrote to us:
“We want to thank you and your organization for allowing us to help you build the children’s home in Uganda. I first learned about what you do through reading your book, “Be A HERO”. Prior to this, I’m embarassed to admit that I had no idea how severely so many children suffer worldwide. As I learned of the countless kids who are without food, homes, or help, my heart broke. I think it can become easy in America to take for granted all that we have. Food, shelter and security are expected, because here they are so readily available. After being made aware of how the majority of the world actually lives, I knew I could never again look the other way. I shared these stories with my sister and she, too felt the same concern. I told her about your organization which provides homes and help for children at risk. She had some money set aside that she knew God had a purpose for. Building this children’s home become that purpose. People alsys say “you can’t help everyone”. But I believe we can all do something, no matter how big or small. Thank you again for letting us help. We feel blessed being apart of it.
God Bless,
Liz and Lori.
PS: Again I just can’t tell you how much of an impact your book had on me. I’ve read a lot of Christian books, good ones. But none that finally showed me what we are supposed to be doing with all we have learned. (helping those in need). To make things worse, I brought that book on our trip to Disney World. As I read and looked around, I thought “what are we doing?” It just really changed the way I see real Christianity. I feel like blinders have been taken off my eyes. We’ll continue to help you as soon as we can. We also would love to take a missions trip at some point.
