WHY WE DO IT

We who are blessed with resources and abilities to do something about children at risk must become like Job who said “I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist him. I was a father to the needy; I took up the case of the stranger” Job 29:12, 16 Nobel prizewinner, Gabriella Mistral, put it this way: “We are guilty of many errors and many faults, but our worst is abandoning the children, neglecting the fountain of life. Many of the things we need can wait. The child cannot. Right now is the time his bones are being formed, his blood is being made, and his senses are being developed. To him we cannot answer, ‘Tomorrow’. His name is ‘Today’. It’s time to Be A Hero to the millions of helpless children who are homeless, exploited, and abandoned.

Think of it – A child removed from poverty, prostitution, slavery, or the gutter and moved into a children’s home will be provided with all their primary needs including food, clothing, shelter, safety from exploitation (whether sexual or labour related), medicine and schooling, . Today, we are seeing thousands of children who were previously exposed to every kind of evil, laughing and filled with joy from being cared for and protected. They now experience God’s love and know He has a plan for their lives. They have moved from the category of “children at risk” to children who are safe and saved, with hope for the future, and a chance to grow up and Be A Hero themselves.
